Ring for fighters in any modern form is one of the smallest but the most respected sports places. The necessity to do box in the ring was set up already by the grandfather of modern rules, an English champion Jack Brouton in 1743. Fight in a ring was obligatory half of a century earlier than boxing gloves. And the boxing rules, very similar to those of today were codified by the father of modern boxing – British Marguess of Queensberry in 1866 – boxers themselves are very proud of the fact that for example footballers reached this point as far as 30 years later…

Don’t you ever wonder why is this quadratic space where people measure their strength called a ring, i.e. something that we would expect to be of a circular shape? Many tens of thousands years ago, much earlier then when the place for fight was terminated by stretched strings or ropes, it was only set by a circle of curious spectators. That is where the name ring originates. Despite this fact, for more than 300 years, this boxing equipment has in particular the shape of a classic square. However, event in some non-olympionic versions, you can see shapes such as hexagon or octagon.
